KCRW2

Interview with KCRW !!! Yes!! As some of you may know, last week ArtShaped Photography and Birth Services was a guest at KCRW!

I have followed their radio since moving to Los Angeles, so you can only imagine my thrill when the producer Jenna Kagel called me up and invited me to go in to talk about the rising of Birth Photography in Los Angeles.

The host Steve Chiotakis is the most welcoming and friendly person on the planet and I loved chatting with him about the reasons behind Birth Photography being important and becoming such a demand among pregnant women.

My friend Stephanie was also invited to the interview with KCRW. It means so much to me that despite our hard work and endless hours of devotedly crafting birth stories for moms and babies; the media have finally started to pay attention.

ArtShaped Photography and Birth Services interview at KRCW

To me birth photography goes beyond the meaning of simply capturing the story of a birth. I mean, that is huge in itself, but we also often forget, the social and cultural print that Birth Photography can potentially leave behind. Until now birth has never been considered as an event to take note of, to remember even, so this is really the beginning of a new era.

And because it is a visual medium, it is instantly sharable, visible and memorable. Making birth itself finally an accredited moment in women’ lives.

If you wish to discuss more about Birth Photography, please get in touch. I could talk about birth photography for hours and hours and this interview with KCRW gave me so much hope that perhaps as a society, we are starting to pay more attention to what women need to raise families in a solid, grounded, loving and empowering way. Birth photography to me is the acknowledgement that our births and stories as women need to be recored and celebrated.
