Beautiful Family photography session in Los Angeles

I wanted to share some previews of this session because it embodies perfectly my ideal beautiful family photography session in Los Angeles style.

I love love love this time of year because besides the upcoming festivities I get to celebrate with my family, I often see all the ‘birth babies’ and their parents. I have known them since they have become a family and even if just once a year, I am thrilled to see how much they have grown.
I still remember the birth of this little darling and her wonderful mama; being there while dad was on a flight home to meet him. Mama had hired me as her Doula and Photographer. We had met several time before she went into labor and went over her vision several times. Her best friend also participated as part of the support team and when I arrived to her house in the wee hours of the night, it was so beautiful to see how calm and relaxed she was. Once we arrived at the hospital, it was even more inspiring to watch her speak up her truth and ask the nurses to respect her wishes and timing before following all the paperwork and bureaucratic jumble mumble each laboring person has to face once they are admitted to the maternity ward.

That was the first occasion for their beautiful family photography session in Los Angeles.

He has grown so much, yet his little face preserves the innocence of that day.

This year we met at El Matador State Beach, finally re-opened after the Woolsey Fires. Most of the vegetation in the higher part of the reserve is now gone and burnt to ashes, but luckily the beach is spectacular as always. Naturally it was the perfect opportunity for family photography in Los Angeles

The day of this beautiful family photography session in Los Angeles, there was a high tide, so we had to jump over few rocks and time our steps accordingly, but that added to the fun.

Little Ash was initially worried about the waves taking him and was too concentrate on taming them to pay any attention to his mama’s directions. But I have learned that children just need time and to be trusted to figure out things on their own terms.

Sure enough, the waves did transform in an opportunity to have fun; and after a while Ash was playing catch and giggling and splashing his feet in the water.

I love this spot in Malibu, specifically for its versatility. No session is alike! Whether the tide is low or high, this place has so much potential. The lighting is always magical too. It gives me the chance to start photographing my subjects even if the sun is still a little high in the sky because the rocks are so helpful in shielding unnecessary brightness. They also add to the colors and the scenery of the area. Finally, the quick walk down to the beach gives me the opportunity to exchange few words with my clients and them the opportunity to shake off any potential worry or nervousness about the session.

After all, these beautiful family photography session in Los Angeles have the potential to become a little therapy session, where we talk about birth, post partum. Worries and hopes for the days to come.
